I've been watching the 'Restoration Village' series on the BBC. One of the projects: Pen Yr Orsedd Quarry Workshops, Nantlle. I tried to visit this site, it is owned by Wimpey, only to find I could not gain admittance. So I contented myself with this other completely abandoned slate quarry at Nantlle. Among the trees were several old buildings, some with large trees growing within. The place was quite dark in reality and mood, although the original colour shots made it look much brighter, so I feel my black and white conversion is a more accurate impression • Canon 20D, Sigma 10-20 mm, ISO 800 • © John Prior 2006 all rights reserved
