St. Lawrence’s church, built by the Dashwoods and next to it is the huge flint mausoleum of the Dashwood family. This is on the top of a steep hill, it can be seen from the A40 out of High Wycombe, the old London to Oxford Road. The golden ball is in fact a chamber with small windows on all four sides. The Hell-Fire caves are lower down the hill underneath church and mausoleum.• Lumix LX1, RAW, ISO 80 • © John Prior 2006 all rights reserved
