I tried to find out about this abandoned and forbidden jetty, a Google search revealed the following from a local newspaper (2003). 'A businessman's plans for a new hotel and restaurant on Southend's corporation loading pier have been snubbed as councillors press ahead with demolishing the landmark'. I think the council got it right, why create an even bigger blot on the landscape? At least the existing jetty is interesting in its state of decay • Canon 20D with 17-40 mm L • ISO 400 • © John Prior 2006 all rights reserved
